Boeung Ket down Yangon to make semis

Boueng Ket Angkor produced a second-half blitz to down visiting Myanmar league champions Yangon United 3-0 in front of a big crowd at the Olympic Stadium yesterday evening to make the semifinals of the 2015 Mekong Club Championship.
The chief architect of Boeung Ket’s victory was frontliner Paul Omogba who came up with a brace with his fellow Nigerian striker Ajayi Gbenga conjuring a brilliant solo effort.
The win pits coach Prak Sovanara’s side against Vietnam’s champion team Becamex Binh Duong for a semifinal clash to be held in Hanoi on December 6.
After a goal-less first half of even chances, Boeung Ket took the lead in the 51st minute with a quality header from Omogba and 11 minutes later Gbenga weaved his way into the box past at least three defenders and capped his solo run with a tidy finish.
As the regulation time approached, Omogba latched on to a neat forward pass and out sprinting his Yangon minders easily got past the goal-keeper in a one-one situation.
The visitors made several desperate counter-attacks only to see the Boeung Ket backline and Keeper Sou Yaty stand firm.
