Manchester United Nearing £35m Deal for Lazio Star Felipe Anderson
With the transfer window
now open speculation over potential moves is increasing by the hour, but
one deal which seems to be nearing reality is Manchester United's capture of
Felipe Anderson.
In a story which has
been running for a number of weeks now, the Metro is the
latest publication to report that a deal has been agreed on between the Red
Devils and Lazio, thought to be in the region of £35m.
The 22-year-old will
fetch an initial payment of £30m, with a further £5m to be added in bonus
installments. Anderson was one of the stars of the Serie A last season, but has
struggled to match that form this time round.
Nevertheless,
the talent of the former Santos prodigy is not in doubt, with many tipping him
to become a world class player. United looked to have made an early move for
attacking midfielder, in a bid to beat the interest of other European sides.
An exciting forward is definitely on the menu
for Louis van Gaal's side, with last weekend's win over Swansea City at Old
Trafford their first in six games, amidst widespread views that the club is
playing its worst football in decades.
Speaking after the victory over the Swans,
United's Dutch boss commented, ""I am very happy for the players
because they had to play under big pressure and now we have won. We are still
near the top of the league and the gap is less. So that's football.
"That's a season. A season takes eight
months or something like that and not one month. We've started the new
year very well. I think we played very risky, very attacking, with three
defenders, but we wanted to win and scored two fantastic goals today. That's
the difference.
"We scored two
fantastic goals and you only win by scoring goals but, as a team, our
performance in the first half was better. We didn't give any chances away
in the first half."
