Marquinhos Reveals It's 'a Pleasure' to Be Linked With Man Utd, Chelsea and Barcelona
Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos has
revealed it is "his pleasure" to be consistently linked with
transfers to elite clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona.
Speaking in an interview with JDD, the
Brazilian revealed that he was intent on staying with the club and fighting for
his first team place until the end of the season, though if he continues
to sit on the bench he may consider a summer move. He insists that he respects
the decisions made by the management at the moment but needs to think of his
own career too.
Earlier this week it was reported that United were ready to make a
January offer to sign the Brazilian centre half, though they'd need to meet the
bumper £36.7m asking price set by the French champions and current league
leaders.
Chelsea have been consistently linked with him too as they sound out a
long-term replacement for John Terry, while Barcelona can now sign players
again after their transfer ban. Asked about his name being linked with those clubs, the 21 year-old said: "It’s my pleasure. It means that we work well" Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up.
But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management. This
is an ambitious club and I am under contract until 2019.
Both United and Chelsea are expected to search
for new centre halves in 2016, with Everton's John Stones also on their
respective wishlists.
